Well, Brooklyn, the holidays are looming. Thanksgiving is just two weeks away, and you know what that means: it’s full-throttle until 2012. But as this week comes to an end, there’s plenty to celebrate: 11-11-11, Veterans Day, the 43rd anniversary of Equatorial Guinea joining the United Nations — and most importantly: it’s finally, finally the weekend. Here here!
• Laugh it up on Friday night, as the New York Comedy Festival comes to Brooklyn for the very first time! Foul-mouthed comedienne Sarah Silverman will kick it all off with a performance at BAM — not to be missed!
• Then, head over to Littleneck, a new clam shack in Gowanus, and chow down on a delicious clam or lobster roll. Everyone’s obsessed with this place!
• On Saturday morning, make your way to the Brooklyn Museum and take a stroll through the new show, “Youth and Beauty: American Art of Twenties.” It’s gorgeous, so get your fix before the Museum gets mobbed next weekend for the opening of controversial show “Hide/Seek.”
• Have a delicious afternoon cocktail — because that’s what weekends are for, am I right? — at Blueprint bar in Park Slope, where there’s a mezcal drink, with buckwheat honey and fresh-squeezed lime juice. that will knock your socks off, guaranteed.
• There’s nothing better than some free wine to go with your healthy dose of culture: Saturday evening, go check out the grand opening of the Bertrand Delacroix Gallery’s new Brooklyn space on Atlantic Avenue!
• BAM’s on fire this weekend! On Saturday night, go check out their brand new production, “Brooklyn Babylon” — and while you’re there, make sure to order a frosty bottle of BAM’s Brooklyn Brewery signature brew, BamBoozle.

• Afterwards, head north and soak up some of that BAMBoozle with a simply delicious dinner at Williamsburg’s new Lorimer Street eatery, Walden — we recommend the braised pork shoulder. Mmm.
• Need something else to munch on? Get your Midwest fix at Burnside Brooklyn, where cheese curds are gleefully deep-fried with reckless abandon. Yes, we approve.
• Ah Sunday! What better way to start the day than by heading down to the Brooklyn Historical Society, and celebrating one of the greatest children’s books of all time — with its author! Join Norton Juster for the 50th anniversary of “The Phantom Tollbooth.”
• In the mood for a little flamenco? Great! On Sunday, make your way to the Brooklyn Center for Performing Arts for Jose Porcel’s ferociously rich, rhythmic and colorful performance of his dance piece, “Gypsy Fire.”
• How about a nightcap? Take a trip to Red Hook and pay old Sunny Balzano a visit at his legendary neighborhood watering hole, Sunny’s. A piece of history AND a few cold beers to round out your weekend? Sounds pretty good to us.
• Last but not least: go get dirty on Sunday night with funnyman J.B. Smoove at a comedy show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg!
• And as always, these and other great events are in our exclusive family calendar, our great nightlife calendar, and our matchless events calendar.
