Police collared an off-duty cop who they say he drunkenly plowed his sports utility vehicle into four pedestrians in Williamsburg on Saturday morning, killing one of them and injuring the other three, according to a report.
Authorities say the 28-year-old officer was driving Manhattan-bound on N. Eighth Street in a 2012 Dodge Durango at around 3 am when he made a right-hand turn onto Bedford Avenue, mounted the sidewalk, and mowed down four pedestrians.
Emergency responders took a 21-year-old man, 22-year-old woman, 23-year-old woman, and a 24-year-old man to the hospital, where the 21-year-old died. The other are all in stable condition, according to a report.
Police cuffed the suspect at the scene, and later charged him with manslaughter and drunken driving and placed him on suspension, police said.
The District Attorney’s office asked for a $1-million bail, claiming driver tried to flee the scene, according to a New York Post report, but the judge set it at $300,000 instead, and the man posted bond on Sunday.
