The Parks Department has a well-known reputation for stamping its leaf logo on everything from freshly planted traffic islands to jogging paths.
But now Parks workers have gone where even former Commissioner Henry Stern had never gone before: they’ve plastered their logo on a parking lot at the intersection of Red Cross Place and Cadman Plaza East.
One of the signs even dubs the lot “Park Strip,” but people walking by the DUMBO lot came up with some better names. “It’s a garage, so I’d call it ‘Tarmac Park,’” said Genevieve Sheppard.
“How about ‘Brooklyn Industrial Park?’” added Jeomar Montelon.
Then again, “Park Strip” sure beats Dead Dog Park, one name that Stern once doled out.
A Parks spokesman said that the agency logo — with its vaguely sycamorish leaf — was posted so that people would know which city bureaucrats were responsible for upkeep.
