Pint-sized intellectuals in Public School 255’s grades Kindergarten through five were selected to receive Student of the Month honors for “serving as exemplars in their schoolwork, their thoughtfulness, and their kindness for others,” according to the school’s Project Arts Liaison, Miriam Rankin, who spearheaded the monthly initiative as a way to recognize all the school’s young learners.
The youngsters donned fancy sashes throughout the day and were also presented with special Student of the Month pencils, with which to create more of the exemplary schoolwork and homework for which they were honored.
Principal Linda L. Singer stated that, “It is a real honor to be chosen. They live up to the goals and objectives of the school — we aim for the stars and our Students of the Month shine upon all of us. These students are proud of themselves and we are even prouder of all of their accomplishments.”
PS 255 is located at 1866 East 17th Street and Avenue R in the Homecrest section of Brooklyn.
