National Dance Institute (NDI) presented Kathlyn Wilson, Visual Arts teacher at PS 235-The Lenox School, 525 Lenox Road in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, the NDI Sylvia Gilman Teacher of the Year Award.
The award, sponsored by The Howard Gilman Foundation, was given to Wilson during a ceremony and reception held at LaGuardia High School in Manhattan. For the past seven years, Wilson has developed a deep partnership with NDI’s Teaching Artists and has integrated the NDI curricular theme into her Visual Arts classes. Her students create spectacular sets, props and costumes for PS 235’s NDI end-of-year performance annually.
“We celebrate Kathlyn’s work as a brilliant educator and NDI champion,” says Ellen Weinstein, artistic director of NDI.
In its 10th year of partnership, PS 235 continues to be one of NDI’s largest In-School Programs.
