Cyclones 3
Renegades 1

Tuesday, June 30, at Keyspan Park

The pitching wasn’t as razor-sharp, and the defense was a bit shakey, but the Cyclones won their ninth game out of their first 11 with a relatively easy win over their rivals from the Hudson Valley.

And he’s … safe! Sam Honeck slides and gets past Renegade catcher Mayobanex Acosta (who was out of position, frankly) on a key play in the fourth inning of the Cyclones’ 3–1 win on Tuesday night.

The Clones got on the board first, scoring two in the fourth on a Nicholas Giarraputo RBI double and a Doc Doyle RBI single.

Sam Honeck capped the Cyclone scoring with a SAC fly in the fifth.

Starting pitcher Jim Fuller lowered his ERA to .69 in the Cyclones 3–1 win on Tuesday night.

Starter James Fuller (2–0, .69 ERA) went seven innings, giving up just one run, which scored with the help of an error by catcher Juan Centano. Fuller gave up eight hits overall.

Reliever Matias Carrillo was lights out in the eighth, and closer Michael Powers got his first save of the year with a one-hit ninth.

The win put the Cyclones four-and-a-half games ahead of second place Aberdeen in the New York–Penn League’s McNamara Division.
