The old elderly scam

Four-bit punks

A gang of grifters scammed an elderly woman shopping at a Hoyt Street dollar store on Feb. 9 — and got away with $11,800.

The lead con-woman — think Queen Latifah in “Set It Off,” not Robert Redford in “The Sting” — approached her mark at 11 am inside the store, which is at the corner of Livingston Street.

The hefty hustler told the patsy that together they could make a big score if the old woman put up some seed capital — yet another version of a common scam on the elderly.

With three accomplices in tow, the fleshy fraudster took the victim home, to an ATM, and then to an Atlantic Avenue bank. After the dupe doddered into the building, which is by the corner of Fourth Avenue, the gang drove off with the cash.

Courting disaster

A punk with no respect for the law swiped $1,502 from a lawyer on Feb. 8 — inside a courthouse on Schermerhorn Street.

The absent-minded attorney left his jacket on his bench at 3:30 pm inside the halls of justice, between Boerum Place and Smith Street, then noticed it missing an hour later.

The thief made off with a fat stack of C-notes in a Louis Vuitton wallet — plus the barrister’s lucky $2 bill.

Hate club

A thug stabbed two men after a fight inside a Willoughby Street club spilled out into the street on Feb. 8.

After the party was shut down at 4 am due to a brawl, the criminal knifed one man in the stomach and the other in the chest, leaving them both lying on the sidewalk between Lawrence and Bridge streets. The victims said they were not involved in the fracas inside.

Civic swiped

A thief swiped a woman’s Honda off State Street on Feb. 8.

The gray Civic had been parked between Third Avenue and Flatbush Avenue Extension at around 5 am, but it was gone by the time the owner returned at 5:30 pm. The lucky robber also scored a new MacBook.
