The secrets of love…in one book!

The secrets of love…in one book!

The father of modern political satire is coming to DUMBO!

Actually, Ben Karlin, who won eight Emmys for helping create “the Daily Show” and “the Colbert Report,” already works on Front Street. But on Feb. 13, the TV producer will head for powerHouse Books to read from “Things I’ve Learned From Women Who’ve Dumped Me,” a collection of rejection stories by lovelorn losers from Stephen Colbert to Will Forte.

The essays range from the hilarious (such as gay columnist Dan Savage’s first encounter with the “hairy lasagna”) to the oddly sincere (former Sen. Bob Kerry’s crush on a dead figure skater), but as Karlin says, “the only piece that’s melodramatic and pathetic is mine.”

Karlin’s contribution, “You Too Will Get Crushed,” is certainly pitiful, but the fake-news forefather’s dating days are over. He’s married, lives in Fort Greene and has one kid — “that I know of,” he’s quick to add.

Ben Karlin and Andy Selsberg, Feb. 13, at powerHouse Books [37 Main St. at Water St. in DUMBO, (212) 604-9074], 7 pm.
