On Sunday, chances are you’ll be holed up with a bowl full of ruffles in your lap, a plate full of nachos on the table, and the TV on blast, watching the Giants trounce the Patriots in Superbowl 46. But remember, you’ve got two days before the big game, so you should probably make them count. Good thing it’s your weekend!
• Want a hot, fresh hamburger at the trendiest place in town? On Friday, go get on line at Downtown’s brand spankin’ new Shake Shack on the Fulton Mall. The “Fudge-eddaboutit” concrete comes highly recommended — after all, it’s chock full of Mast Brothers chocolate and smothered in specialty chocolate-cinnamon sauce!
• Then, take a trip to the Brooklyn Museum to check out the brand new exhibit, “Question Bridge,” a video installation that explores the politics of race identity. While you’re there, stop by two new exhibitions, courtesy of a couple of Brooklyn-based up-and-comers.
• Rock on over to the borough’s longest happy hour and throw back a few beers! It’s Friday, after all.
• Afterwards, spend your Friday evening checking out Gowanus-based artist Martha Walker’s new show about demons — both internal and external. These creepy-cool sculptures are made of molten metal — but don’t worry, they’re safer to look at than they were to make!
• Go chow down on some delectable fondue at Cobble Hill’s favorite new neighbor, the Bourgeois Pig. Wash it down with a Kaiser’s Swizzle!
• Then, on Friday night, go see lute legend Jozef Van Wissem team up with famed director Jim Jarmusch at Issue Project Room’s grand European-style theater on Livingston Street in Downtown for the release of the duo’s new album, “Concerning the Entrance Into Eternity.”
• On Saturday, start your day with a fantastical dance performance from acclaimed choreographer Pascal Rioult’s company — that features public school kids!
• Then, on Saturday, head to Factory Fresh in Bushwick where graffiti legend Skewville is celebrating 40 years in the street art game with a massive retrospective show. Think paint-splashed walls and wooden sneakers.
• Then, head to Fort Greene and cool yourself off with a smooth cocktail at brand new drink spot, Dick and Jane’s.
• Afterwards, why not stop by Clinton Hill Pickles, an old-school cuc shop in Clinton Hill from the ex-purveyor of the famed Guss’ Pickles. Then, ponder the state of the scene and try a few of these new-school varieties, and compare.
• For dinner, try Top Chef Dale Talde’s new eponymous eatery, Talde, in Park Slope; our own foodie-in-chief went nuts for the joint.
• Round out your Saturday night with the Gallery Players at a performance of “A Man of No Importance.”
• Then, hop over to Midwood and feast on a knish — hand-made by Brooklyn legend Mohamed Salem of Adelman’s Kosher Delicatessen! Trust us — these knishes are delicious.
• Still hungry? Great! Head to Park Slope and check out Va Beh, a brand new Italian outpost that makes a dreamy crostini.
• Wake yourself up on Sunday with a trip to the Williamsburg’s hottest — and coolest — coffee shop Toby’s Estate, all the way from the land down under!
