The weather is going to be better, we promise. As such, The Weekender is going to be making the most of it:
• Go to the memorial service for blogger Robert Guskind.
• If you’ve never seen a mural made out of three miles of black masking tape, here’s your chance! See the work in progress at artist at the Brooklyn Museum.
• If you must, you could go volunteer at Mayor Bloomberg’s Atlantic Avenue office to get him a third term.
• Get your message on the Fred Flare message board at the Greenpoint boutique.
• Get to know Downtown Brooklyn — we are! Here’s our guide.
• Get the lead out and buy Lydia Denworth’s new book!
• The trombone festival begins this Saturday night. Yes, a trombone festival!
• The Brooklyn Flea will be hopping as always in DUMBO.
• Beverly Cumbo will lead a walk-and-talk around Fort Greene, including the park, Walt Whitman’s favorite grassy knoll. Meet at Cuyler Gore Park at the corner of Fulton Street and Greene Avenue.
• Sunday is Coney Island day! Everything will open and the weather is supposed to be great. Just head down there.
• And “Sleeping Beauty” is still running at Puppetworks. Our own Trey Dooley raved about it.
As always, these and other great events are in our exclusive family calendar, our great nightlife calendar, and our matchless events calendar.
