Tool time
A burglar stole a man’s tools from his car parked on E. 59th Street sometime overnight on Oct. 3.
The victim told police he left his vehicle between Avenues J and K around 11 pm. When he returned the next day at 6 am, he said his screwdrivers, drill, and hammer were all missing.
Nearby surveillance video showed a marauder going through the victim’s car, according to the police report.
Bank mishap
Someone used an E. 66th Street man’s debit card accidentally sent to his old address to take out more than $11,000 sometime between Oct. 3 and 4.
The victim told police that he was at his home near 56th Drive and called his bank about a replacement debit card that he had requested but not yet received. The financial institution said the card had been sent to his old Sheepshead Bay address.
At that point he realized that someone had used the new card to make the huge withdrawal.
Purse swipe
A bandit grabbed a woman’s purse on Ralph Avenue on Oct. 3.
The woman told police that she was walking out of a housing complex near Glenwood Road at around 3 pm when a punk came up from behind her and pulled her pocketbook off of her left arm.
The scoundrel ran into the complex, getting away with her bag containing her driver’s license and credit card, according to police.
Grand scam
A trickster scammed a Nostrand Avenue woman out of $2,000 on Oct. 4.
The woman told police that she was at her home between Avenues L and K at around 10:54 am when she received a phone call from an unknown number, and the caller told her tax fees she owed could be relieved if she wired cash through a money transfer company.
Shortly after wiring the money, she received another call, this time from the cash transfer company, who alerted the woman that she was being scammed, and she then contacted the police, according to cops.
Music jack
Two burglars robbed a Kings Highway cellphone store on Oct. 9.
Police said that two men entered the store near Utica Avenue at 1:45 pm, and used a blade to cut the display glass open. A witness said that the thieves got away with three pairs of pricey headphones, according to police.
