Cruisin’ for booze
A sly thief robbed a Flatbush Avenue business of cash, liquor, and scratch-off tickets sometime overnight on June 14.
Police say the bandit broke into the store near Troy Avenue around 8 pm through a back door, and destroyed a storage room and took off with bottles of alcohol and lottery scratch books, according to the report. Cops say the building was vacant between 10 am and 10 pm, according to police.
Through the front door
A burglar raided a senior’s Troy Avenue apartment for jewelry on June 15.
Cops say the nogoodnik entered the home near Flatbush Avenue between 9:30 am and 6:10 pm, and ransacked the drawers. The 66-year-old resident said the crook got away with her watch, several gold rings, necklaces, and bracelets, according to police.
Police say there was no forced entry signs on the apartment door, all windows were locked, and the front door may have been left unlocked.
Lost and recovered
A fraudster stole $1,500 from an E. 64th Street woman’s home between January and June 4.
The woman, who lives near Mayfair Drive South, told police that she was reviewing several bank statements at home when she realized that six fraudulent charges were made on her card. When she checked her bag for her debit card, she realized it was missing, according to police.
Identity theft
Some sneak thief stole money using an E. 45th Street man’s identity between May 5 and June 5.
The card owner, who lives between Flatlands Avenue and Avenue M, told cops that he noticed that in the last month, someone made withdrawals from his account totalling $2,772. Police say the man was in possession of his bank card.
Home robbery
A pilferer took jewerly from an Avenue R apartment between May 25 and May 31.
Cops say the owner of the gems, who lives between Hendrickson and Coleman streets, was in police custody for an unrelated incident for a week. Upon being released, she told police that a week later she discovered that her gold chain, medallions, bracelets, earrings, and two credit cards were all missing from her home, according to the report.
