Dust off the mortar boards and give it up for Xaverian Class of 2016 graduate David Pena. This smart ’n’ sharp young man has been awarded the prestigious Smart Start Scholarship from JP Morgan Chase. The recognition is only given to the top of the top academic students in the city and carries a full tuition, stipend for books and supplies, and a paid internship at JP Morgan Chase.

David is a member of the Clipper Society, as well as the soccer, mock trial, music teams. He is also involved in campus ministry services, the dramatics society, and the school’s Belgium Exchange program.

David has had his eye on the prize and appreciates the guidance he received at the school.

“I have the deepest gratitude to the teachers who educated me and taught me to become a better man,” he said. “They motivated and inspired me to reach for the dreams that are now my reality, as well as nurtured my development of my faith. I was always encouraged to trust in God’s plan for me and believe that God will work through me by developing my gifts so I can do my part to better the world.”

Our smart young man is planning to major in international business at New York University in the fall.

Standing O wishes David great successes in the future.
