It’s hard to believe that the final show of the Seaside Summer Concert Series is upon us, but that night — Aug. 21 — is drawing near. While it’s sad to watch another summer come to a close, this show promises to be a grand finale. Most will undoubtedly turn out to hear headliner Huey Lewis & The News — but be sure to arrive on time to catch opening act Paul Thorn.

Touring in support of his latest CD “A Long Way From Tupelo” (Perpetual Obscurity), the Bob Seger-ish sounding singer-songwriter got some harp help from Lewis on his rousing, gospel-influenced “I’m Still Here” track. We’re looking forward to seeing Thorn — son of a Pentecostal preacher — convert some audience members into fans with his live show that blends Mississippi rock, blues and country.

The Seaside Summer Concert Series presents Huey Lewis & the News with guest Paul Thorn at 7:30 pm on Aug. 21 at Asser Levy Seaside Park, West Fifth Street at Surf Avenue in Coney Island. Free. For more information, call (718) 222-0600 or visit www.brooklynconcerts.com.
