Mayor DeBlasio will visit Canarsie on Thursday to host a town hall on education.

Parents and educators will have the opportunity to bring up many issues that face students in the district, such as the co-location of charter schools in public schools and the need for more mental-health and after-school programs as a way to combat bullying and gang violence, according to James Dandridge, president of the District 18 Community Education Council.

Hizzoner is bringing schools chancellor Carmen Farina, and a slew of local pols including Borough President Adams, Councilman Alan Maisel (D–Canarsie), state Sen. Roxanne Persaud (D–Canarsie), and Assemblywoman Jaime Williams (D–Canarsie) are slated to attend.

Mayor’s Town Hall at Hebrew Educational Society [9502 Seaview Ave. between E. 95th Street and St. Jude Place in Canarsie] Sept. 22 at 6 pm.
