To The Editor:
Sounds like the police did a great job putting an end to student “cut day” on Manhattan Beach.
Left unchecked, unlawful behavior like this only gets worse over the years. But, since this is New York City, naturally, not everyone is happy.
Barbara Berardelli says she “escorted” truant teenagers to the beach only to be turned away by cops. Supposedly, this wacko is a member of the precinct community council. Its really outrageous that a so-called community “leader” tries to help kids break the law. She should have told the kids to get back to school.
Then, she complains about the police taking action. The police are authorized to bring every truant back to school and make a report. A person who interferes with that process is committing a crime.
It has been said that a policeman’s lot is not a happy one. Thanks to people like Ms. Berardelli, being a cop in New York City can be downright miserable.
Kudos once again to Lieutenant Harrington and the officers from the 61 Precinct.
