Christmas is lighting up Marine Park.
The Christmas tree lighting at the Carmine Carro Community Center on Dec. 11 gave local kids a chance to shine. The celebration featured youngsters performing seasonal songs and holiday dance routines.
One parent of a Millennium Development dancer said her youngster loved showing off the routine she perfected specifically for the lighting ceremony.
“They were practicing that for a few weeks there,” said Anaya Rodriguez, whose daughter, Amanda Quinones, performed the “Jingle Bell Rock.” “She was like, ‘It was fun!’ ”

Kids from PS 222, PS 207, and Millennium Development grooved on stage, and one parent said the youngsters’ holiday spirit lit up the whole neighborhood.
“It was nice to see all the kids come out and perform,” said Lisa Cisterino, whose daughter Victoria sang carols.
But the evening wasn’t just a song and dance — the night also featured a touching tribute from Millennium Development to a Marine Park local who passed away in 2010. The organizers held the celebration near a bench that is dedicated to Carl Fuschetto.
“It is just something beautiful that Millennium likes to do and they do it at my son’s bench,” said Pamela Fuschetto, who donated the park bench with her husband to honor their son Carl. “It was so beautiful.”
