St. Anselm R.C. Church has a traditional day of praying the St. Anthony Novena every Tuesday after the 11 a.m. Mass. St. Anthony, a Franciscan Religious, is noted for helping the poor, and Brother Robert Duffy, director of Faith Formation at St. Anselm’s, leads the congregation in the praying of the novena.
As part of the novena, Brother Robert suggested that each week the parishioners bring a food item to place in front of the Statue of St. Anthony, which is then donated to the parish pantry run by Sister Regina Corde.
The day of praying the St. Anthony Novena has been such a success that at times there is an abundance of food, which Sister Regina donates to neighboring parish pantries.
