Shot on Hoyt Street

Three louts shot a teen in the shoulder after an encounter on Hoyt Street on Dec. 4, according to police.

The teen was between Union and Baltic streets around 7:45 pm when he encountered the three men. He had a verbal exchange with the trio, and as he turned to walk away, one of the three fired two shots at him, according to the police report.

The first shot missed, but the second hit his shoulder and broke his collarbone, authorities said.

Bad timing

A callous thief stole a student’s backpack filled with educational essentials from her car parked on Congress Street on Dec. 5, police said.

She parked her car around noon and came back later in the day to find her backpack containing her MacBook Pro and a business textbook missing. December is finals season for many schools.

Those are hot pants!

A fashion-minded shoplifter stole some leather pants from a high-end retail store on Court Street on Dec. 7.

The woman packed four pairs of the lamb-skin pantaloons set out on a display table into her tote bag at the store at the corner of Amity Street around 1:40 pm and just walked out the door, according to police. Each pair of the pants were selling for a thousand bucks, police said.

Card cad

Some goon broke into a home on Baltic Street on Dec. 4, but the woman living at the home scared him off before he could get away with much, according to police.

The woman was asleep in her home between Bond and Hoyt streets, and woke up sometime between 1 and 3 am when she heard the blinds moving. She saw a man outside her window and threatened him until he fled, cops said. She went back to bed, but found the next day that some credit cards, identification cards, clothes, and a pair of watches were missing, she told police.

The thief failed to make any major purchases with her cards before she shut them down. All he bought was a MetroCard for $3, according to police.

Unknown Parcel Stealer

Someone stole three packages from a stoop on Hicks Street on Dec. 2, according to a police report.

A postal service delivery man left the packages in front of the door of the apartment between Baltic and Warren streets around 2:15 pm, but they were long-gone by the time the rightful owner came home around 10 pm.

The packages contained some women’s shoes and winter clothes, according to police, who said that package thefts spike during the holiday season.

Brutal beatdown

A group of four or five men beat and robbed a man who was minding his own business during a stroll down Baltic Street on Dec. 4.

The man told police he was near the corner of Bond Street around 9:30 pm when the group approached him and started punching him in the face and body.

They ran his pockets and got away with a grand total of $50 bucks, police said. Emergency responders transported the badly hurt man to New York Methodist Hospital for treatment.
