Brooklyn Philharmonic closes this season of its free “Music Off The Shelves” chamber music concert series at the Brooklyn Public Library with a concert the whole family can enjoy, “The Truth About Twinkle,” April 26.
Set for 1 p.m. in the newly opened S. Stevan Dweck Center for Contemporary Culture at Brooklyn Public Library’s main branch at Grand Army Plaza, “The Truth About Twinkle” explores and discusses the different variations and versions of the popular children’s lullaby “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”
Children and adults alike will be encouraged to participate as members of the Brooklyn Philharmonic perform several versions of one of the world’s most popular bedtime songs, and explore the origins of the lullaby. Was Mozart really the tune’s true author, or did the famous song appear out of thin air?
This family concert will be repeated at 3:30 p.m. at the Brooklyn Heights Branch of Brooklyn Public Library.
