This idea came to me after my wife asked me for a stamp to mail a letter. I gave her a $.42 cent flag stamp and an additional$.2 cent stamp to make up the difference for the $.44 cent required postage.Sharon peeled off the self sticking stamp which dropped to the floor.She quickly retrieved it and put it on the letter unknowingly upside down.The flag was upside down, which is a signal of distress:
“The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.” That’s when the thought hit me, suppose Americans who were deeply disturbed about the economy and the Obama Administration displayed their disapproval by simply placing stamps of our flag upside down every time they mailed a letter?
“Well how many people would see it, you might ask?To be absolutely sure, only three: you, the mailman and the recipient. Suppose you’re sending the letter to an elected official that might not notice it, but after receiving several will certainly notice the message it’s bringing: Disapproval, Disenchantment, and Disgust.
It’s a simple way of bringing attention to others that there are a lot of unhappy Americans.Especially with Christmas coming, an influx of upside down stamps will certainly spread the message and the message could continue with each letter sent.And when this message is broadcast over the internet it will spread even more so and continue until the President orders no more flags on postal stamps. That’s when you know the message was received. However there is always the distinct possibility that he orders his portrait to replace the flags. Very possible!
This idea will certainly be vilified by Liberal Democrats who finally achieved getting their Messiah into the White House. Although I realize Messiah is not the right noun because the President appears to be much more pro Arab than pro Israel.
How dare anyone speak disapproval of this administration?Hello, this is America and Americans are protected by the Bill of Rights. Shouldn’t they be more interested in stopping terrorists than stifling free speech?Look at the President’s attacks of FOX News, why%u2026because FOX doesn’t rubber stamp every thing he does.
The Obama family does bring freshness to the Whitehouse, and President Obama is totally the darling of the Media. He is an articulate speaker, a smiling personality and always in the News. I would have preferred as President the war hero John McCain for the crisis the nation and the world is facing now. But the people have spoken and Barack Hussein Obama is our President and unfortunately Nancy Pillosi is the speaker of the house that in itself deserves many, many flag stamps to be inverted.So I will continue enjoying my bit of silent protests placing the flag stamps upside down, because this country is certainly in dire distress with too many instances of danger to life and property. I hope many of you will join me and spread the word around, because Christmas is coming. Can I still say that…or use the word that the Holidays are coming, but I’ll be sending Christmas cards because Christmas is a legal holiday%u2026so far!
