Lobby lunge
A good-for-nothing lout choked a woman in the lobby of her Batchelder Street apartment building on June 1 — before scampering away with her purse.
The victim told police said she noticed the ruffian following her as she entered the lobby of the building near Avenue V at 9:12 am. The brute grabbed her in a chokehold from behind while she waited for the elevator, then pushed her to the elevator floor and yanked the purse from her hands, cops stated. Authorities say the perp fled on foot.
Hack seen with a hacksaw
Cops cuffed a man who they said attempted to hack his way into an E. 16th Street home using a hacksaw and a baseball bat on June 4.
Police say the suspect was seen attempting to saw open the lock of the front door of the home near Avenue X with a hacksaw at 7:20 pm, before resorting to bashing it with a baseball bat.
When the cops arrived, the red-handed perp was caught holding the hacksaw with the bat nearby and was arrested, officials stated.
Pen is mightier
A man was arrested for robbing a bank at Avenue U on June 3 by claiming to have a gun in a written note to a teller, police said.
Authorities say the pen-wielding baddie tried to open a savings account at the bank near W. Eighth Street at 3:20 pm, only to be told that his New Jersey ID was no good and that he would need a New York one to open an account.
The wordsmith returned five minutes later with a folded letter for the teller, which stated, “Don’t repeat anything, I have a gun, I will shoot, give me all the money,” according to the police report.
The teller handed over $910, but cops were notified and an arrest was made.
