The Upper School of Visitation Academy will present its Annual Spring Concert, featuring performances of the Cabaret Troupe, Brass Band and the eighth grade production of “Willy Wonka Jr.,” at Our Lady of Angels, Fourth Avenue and 74th Street, May 9 at 7 p.m.
In conjunction with Theatrics and Music Theatre International, Visitation Academy will produce “Willy Wonka Jr.” with additional music by Leslie Bricusse and conceived by Tim McDonald.
This will be one of the first performances of this work by a school anywhere in the U.S. They will be accompanied by members of the ISO Symphonic Band under the direction of Brian Worsdale.
The Theater Program at Visitation contributes to the school curriculum by offering a distinctive way of learning, where seeing, feeling and creating are combined in a powerful form of visual and oral communication.
Students will gain theater literacy through the study of plays as well as through their own performances.
