Galapagos Art Space, the Williamsburg institution that is preparing to re-open in a newly renovated space at 16 Main St. in DUMBO, will feature a lake outfitted with walkways and tables, allowing club goers to lounge on top of the water. The water for the lake will be harvested from the two wells located on the property.

Galapagos, which will open piecemeal throughout the summer, will get its first visits from the public starting May 14 as a venue for the New York Photo Festival.

“It’s sort of like a Wild West town,” Galapagos Director Robert Elmes (pictured) revealed this week, kicking the construction dust that covered the floors. “We’re opening in stages because we want to understand who we are in the new space.”
