Weasel makes off with cash from store fitting room

Caught pants down

A sneak stole a guy’s wallet with almost $5,000 inside from his pants while he was in the fitting room of an 86th Street department store on June 18, according to a police report.

The victim was trying on a new suit at the store between Fourth and Fifth avenues around 12:30 pm, police said. He exited the dressing room to show his wife the fit, and the weasel took his pants — which contained $4,800. The thief kept the cash and dumped the drawers in the store, officials said.

Early opening

A burglar broke into a Third Avenue restaurant on June 19 and stole money out of a pair of cash registers, police said.

The owner told cops he came to open his store near 97th Street at 8 am only to find that someone had already raised the security gate. The freebooter broke open a front screen window, pried open the registers, and took $300 total from both registers, authorities reported.

Easy hit

A nogoodnik grabbed a guy’s wallet out his car parked on 85th Street sometime overnight June 17–18, police said.

The guy told police he parked his unlocked car between 10th and 11th avenues around 9 pm and returned 12 hours later to find his wallet missing — along with his driver’s license, a Fire Department identification card, and his credit cards.

The thief charged $100 on one of his cards before the victim could cancel it, cops reported.

Now he really needs a job

Overseas scoundrels scammed a Fort Hamilton Parkway man out of thousands of dollars with a fake job offer on June 7, police said.

The guy said he accepted a job offer over the phone from his home near 88th Street around midnight. They sent him a phony check for $3,920 and asked for a wire of $3,000 to an account in Turkey, he told police. He sent it but soon realized he was had and reported it to police.
