Bernie challenges Hillary to debate in Brooklyn!

Didn’t get tickets to the Democratic debate between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in Fort Greene on Thursday? Don’t worry, basically no one did (except this paper! We’re reporting live from the Navy Yard, so stay tuned to our liveblog). But you can still enjoy the thrill of seeing the battle for the hearts and minds of Brooklynites with a live audience at one of many watch parties around the borough. Here are our picks:

For the real Brooklynites

Borough President Adams did not succeed in convincing the Democratic National Convention to move the debate to Brownsville, but you can still watch the debate live in the neighborhood with the Beep himself, as well as state Sen. Jesse Hamilton (D–Crown Heights) and Assemblywoman Latrice Walker (D–Brownsville). They promise light refreshments and a disc jockey.

Van Dyke Community Center (392 Blake Ave. between Mother Gaston Boulevard and Powell Street in Brownsville). 7 pm. RSVP here.

For Brownstone Brooklyn wonks

The Brooklyn Young Democrats, home to all your local politicians’ staffers, will be watching at Park Slope beer hall Die Koelner Bierhalle. Come for the giant steins, stay for the City Hall gossip.

Die Koelner Bierhalle [84 Saint Marks Pl. between Fourth and Fifth avenues in Park Slope, (347) 227–7238, www.thekbh.com]. 8 pm. RSVP here.

For Southern Brooklyn wonks

Hobnob with the Bay Ridge Democrats at the neighborhood’s best — and only — Welsh bar, the Longbow Pub.

The Longbow Pub [7316 Third Ave. between 73rd and 74th streets in Bay Ridge, (718) 238–7468, www.longbownyc.com]. 8 pm, RSVP here.

For the sports fan

Californian-themed bar Pacific Standard has hosted every debate since 2002, and says it hits capacity every time. It only boasts 70 seats — 50 of them stadium style — and advises people to arrive at least an hour and a half early. Those lucky enough to nab a pew will enjoy an extended happy hour of $1 dollar off $7 drinks.

Pacific Standard [82 Fourth Ave. between Bergen Street and St. Mark’s Place in Park Slope, (718) 858–1951, www.pacificstandardbrooklyn.blogspot.com]. 7:30 pm.

For the complete night out

Williamsburg’s Legion Bar will offer a pre-debate lineup of live comedy and music, and post-debate karaoke.

Legion Bar (790 Metropolitan Ave. at Humboldt Street in Williamsburg, www.legion-bar.com). 7:30 pm.
