The Young Fish School of World Drumming will continue Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music’s “Music for Families” series at Brooklyn Conservatory concert hall, May 18 at 3 p.m.
Co-Founders and Co-Teachers Diana Young and R. A. Fish present a highly celebrated and enjoyable approach to understanding multi-cultural diversity and similarity through their tapestry of unique hands-on global drumming, musical, and therapeutic teaching methodologies. Utilizing a large world map and an assortment of drums, percussion, and musical instruments from around the world they explore the rhythmic and musical landscape of the Americas, West Africa, North Africa and the Middle East; India and Asia.
Kids of all ages will have lots of fun learning these global rhythms: Malian/Latin Clave, Jazz, North African Middle Eastern dance rhythms, Indian Classical, Brazilian Samba, Cuban Cha Cha, and more.
