The greatest third-baseman in Cyclone’s history drove in four runs to finally get his team off the schneid in the 2015 World Series.
David Wright smacked a homer in the first inning, and had a bases-loaded single in the sixth to lead our boys past the Royals, who lead the series two games to one.
Mike Conforto’s single in the fourth scored fellow Clone Lucas Duda, who had singled against to start the inning.
But most of the Cyclones damage came in the four-run sixth when, with one out, Juan Lagares singled up the middle before Wilmer Flores was hit by a pitch. Honorary Cyclone Juan Uribe then singled in Lagares and after Royals pitcher Franklin Morales brainlock on a ball hit right back to him, the bases were loaded and the stage set for Wright’s heroics.
Journeyman outfielder Yoenis Cespedes added a run-scoring single.
No Cyclones pitcher allowed a run, so technically, the Cyclones won the game 5–0 (if we count Uribe’s run. But the guy is awesome, so we must).
The Clones look to tie up the series tonight at MCU Park North.
