‘Shuttle’ diplomacy — again! Buses to replace F train this weekend

Shuttle buses will replace weekend F train service between Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn and Church Avenue in Kensington this weekend — the latest inconvenience along the troubled line.

The service outage is due to the ongoing rehabilitation of the elevated portion of the line between Fourth Avenue and Carroll Street.

The work last year knocked out the F train for about a half-dozen weekends — sometimes when the MTA had said service would be normal.

This time around, the MTA made the announcement in its usual manner: posting “Shuttle Bus stop” signs at all the affected stations between Church Avenue and Jay Street, namely Fort Hamilton Parkway, 15th Street, Seventh Avenue, Smith-Ninth Street, Carroll Street and Bergen Street.

What the signs did not fully explain is this: The F train will be out of service between 11:30 pm on Friday and 5 am on Monday.

It is unclear whether the service change is just for this weekend, or for several weekends.

The Culver Viaduct rehab construction project is supposed to last for three to four years more, according to James Anyansi, a spokesman for New York City Transit, an MTA subsidiary.
