The hemisphere’s most-impoverished nation has just been devastated by a massive earthquake. Here’s how to help the people of Haiti right now:

• The Red Cross: President Obama has recommended concerned citizens donate directly to the Red Cross by accessing the agency’s Web page set up for that purpose. The Red Cross has also set up a “donation by cellphone” serivce that allows you to give $10, which will be charged on your next mobile bill, by merely texting “HAITI” to 90999.

Brooklyn Conservatory

• The Mayor’s Fund: Mayor Bloomberg is directing money for relief efforts through the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City. Call 311 to donate.

• UNICEF: The United Nations Children’s Fund has set up a donation Web site.

• Save The Children: This organization’s donation Web site can be accessed by clicking this blue link.

• Doctors without Borders: This amazing group is already on the ground in Haiti. Donate by clicking on this Web link.

• Reaching U.S. Citizens in Haiti: Anyone concerned about American citizens who are in Haiti should contact the American Citizens Service at (888) 407-4747.

UJ CARE of Williamsburg Just finished loading a 40 ft container that people donated bringing mostly canned food and water with also some clothings that is being shipped now to the Haiti earthquake victims. The trailer was parked at Kent Ave & Keap it was loaded up to the hilt in less then two hours

Partners in Health (www.pih.org). Anyone has read Tracy Kidder's Mountains Beyond Mountains will understand why there is no better choice when thinking about donating to an organization that directly serves the Haitian population.

Send your earthquake blockers and give them stuff. Right now, what they need most is stuff.

There was one chassidic jewish man that was unloading a full car trunk of canned food to be shipped to the victims of the Haiti earthquake , It was heavy and I offered to help him unload it, he refused and said that he wants to have the entire "MITSVAH" I asked him whats a MITSVAH? he answered that in (Judaism) a mitsvah is a good deed performed out of religious duty and he wants the entire mitsvah thing done 100% by himself. I walked away in awe thinking how great and proud we should be as charitable americans, and with all our faults I would never exchange america with anything else in the world.

I think this isn,t fair for haiti because first of all they not that weatly and we are and they have hardly any food water or homes to live in if we give them some of our money like pennies and dimes or dollars anything that can help them i bet they will thank us by love.

Dear Sister I am on a humanitarian mission to Haiti together with 220 physicians as part of Magen David Israel, We left Tel Aviv last night and we just landed in the Dominican Republic , we are being immediately airlifted to Haiti via helicopter , Our mission is to save as many lives as possible in this disaster I don’t know when I will be able to contact you next I am sure you understand .
