15th Annual Bus Festival

The New York Transit Museum will partner with the Atlantic Antic street fair to present its 15th Annual Bus Festival, October 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Occupying a central spot in the fair, on Boerum Place between State Street and Atlantic Avenue, the museum’s collection of vintage buses and guest vehicles will be on display and most will be available for boarding. Admission to the Bus Festival and the Atlantic Antic is free. Admission to the New York Transit Museum, one block away on the corner of Boerum Place and Schermerhorn Street, will also be free during the festival from 12-5 p.m.

Bus experts will be on hand, along with educational workshops for children and unique bus-related gifts and transit memorabilia in the Transit Museum Store tent.

The New York Transit Museum’s 15th Annual Bus Festival will feature vehicles from its historic fleet from 1917 through the 1980s. Festival favorites include “Betsy,” a recently acquired closed-top double-decker bus originally operated by the Fifth Avenue Coach Company from 1931 to 1947, MTA Bridges and Tunnels Tunnel Wrecker Truck built in 1974 and the Van Hool Double-decker bus built in 2008, currently being tested by MTA Bus and New York City Transit.

The 34th Annual Atlantic Antic, presented by the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation (AALDC), and produced by auster*events will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine, and all activities along one mile of Atlantic Avenue are free and open to the public.

In addition to the museum’s Bus Festival activities, the Antic will feature something for everyone. Highlights include jewelry, clothes, home accessories, unique crafts, live music and a variety of culinary delights.

Closed to traffic for the day, more than one million people will enjoy the rich cultural and commercial diversity along this strip of Atlantic Avenue while they walk, talk, hop on a vintage bus, dance, sing, eat, shop, meet old and new friends, and enjoy the uniqueness of Brooklyn.

Admission to the New York Transit Museum’s 15th Annual Bus Festival and all events and activities at the Bus Festival are free.
