To kick off the September 2008 “National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month” observance, Dynamite Youth Center (DYC), a Brooklyn-based adolescent substance abuse treatment program, will hold its 11th Annual Walk-a-thon, September 28 at 10 a.m. beginning at Bay Parkway on the Shore Road Bike Path.
During this time, communities are encouraged to join together to increase awareness of adolescent substance abuse treatment and recovery issues.
DYC, a New York State-licensed, not-for-profit, long-term program, is a leader in therapeutic care for adolescents and, in addition to the Brooklyn center, also have a residential facility in Fallsburg, New York.
More than 500 registered runners/walkers and over 250 staff members, volunteers and community people are expected to attend.
