Biting remarks

A man chomped down on an opponent on Aug. 5 during a skirmish on Tilden Avenue.

The victim told police he was arguing with his assailant near Veronica Place at 8 pm when he was bit by the assaulter in the hand and chest.

Cops caught up with the 28-year-old suspect on Aug. 9, finding his criminal choppers, as well as a large knife he tried to ditch near a car.

Cops took him into custody, charging him with assault in the third degree and criminal possession of a weapon.

Robbed of purse

A thief threw a woman against a residential gate during a mugging on July 29.

The victim told police she was walking down East 52nd Street between Winthrop and Clarkson avenues at 10:10 pm when the suspect grabbed her and shoved her so hard into the gate, she injured her knee.

The thief then put a hard object — possibly a gun — to her back, demanding her purse.

Cops said the suspect ran off with the woman’s property, but was arrested following a short investigation.

Caught in car

A 19-year-old car wrecker was found looting a 1990 Ford Expedition on Aug. 5.

Police said the owner of the car returned to where it was parked on East 24th Street between Foster and Farragut roads just after 10 pm, to find the thief rummaging through his cabin. His front passenger side window was broken.

The man called cops, who took the thief into custody.

Smelly sheath

A gunman pulled a gun from an odd hiding spot — a sneaker he was carrying — on July 28, then opened fire on a man he had a spat with.

Police said the 26-year-old victim was nearing the corner of New York and Newkirk avenues at 4:15 pm when he began arguing with the sneaker-carrier.

That’s when the stranger pulled a surprise from his kick and opened fire, hitting his victim twice in the leg.

Police said the gunman ran off as the victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition after treatment.

Van swipe

A thief looted a van parked on East 42nd Street on July 27, taking an assortment of pricey electronics.

The victim, an electrician by trade, told police that the van was parked between Avenues I and J when it was broken into sometime after 12 pm.

Wipe out graffiti

As the ongoing war against graffiti continues, cops are now offering a $500 reward to anyone with information that can lead them to the vandals that mark up the community.

The hefty reward is part of the city’s new push to rid New York of graffiti, one of the leading quality of life complaints brought to police.

Anyone with information about graffiti vandalism in their neighborhood is urged to contact either 311 or 911.
