Two on three isn’t usually a fair match-up — unless you’re a dynamic duo from the 76th Precinct taking on three thugs.
On Sept. 27, Officers Marcos Diaz and Jiajia Huang were flagged down near the Hamilton Avenue footbridge by victims who said they were robbed at gunpoint by three men, who took money, cell phones and sneakers, according to Captain Kenneth Corey, the commanding officer of the 76th Precinct. The cops quickly canvassed the area and tracked down the suspects, recovering the victims’ property. It turned out the suspects had prior arrests for robbery and weapons possession, Corey told the 76th Precinct Community Council at its Nov. 3 meeting inside the precinct, 191 Union Street.
For their efforts, the young officers were awarded “Cop of the Month” honors, taking home plaques and hearty applause. Corey praised the men for their “quick action” in getting “dangerous predators” off the street.
The cops had little time to celebrate: As soon as the applause subsided, the commanding officer ordered the men back on the street to catch more bad guys.
