A man was arrested on Jan. 5 after he allegedly assaulted and stole from a taxi driver.
Police said the victim was in his taxi near the corner of Pierrepont and Clinton streets at about 2:30 p.m. when two men approached the car. They forced him out of the vehicle, grabbed his iPhone 14 and wallet — which held cash and his car insurance card — threw a can of soda at his chest, and sped off in a gray Hyundai. The getaway car was later stopped by police, but the driver sped off, cops said, while one passenger leaped out of the car and attempted to escape on foot. Officers chased him down and arrested him, but said the other perp — along with a woman who was in the car with the men — have not been found, though the car was later recovered on a local street.
