Drunken master
A gun-toting thief took advantage of a man who’d had at least one too many on June 2, forcing him at gunpoint to hand over his cellphone and iPod on Union Street.
The 19-year-old victim told cops that he was a bit tipsy as he walked between Third Avenue and Nevins Street at around 3:15 am. That’s when a man sneaked up from behind, pointed the gun at the victim’s trembling jaw, and demanded the electronic goodies.
The victim’s mild inebriation rendered him unable to offer a good description of the gunman.
Wizard of Oz
A thief snatched a woman’s purse off the back of her chair at Ozzie’s on Seventh Avenue on May 31.
The woman told cops that she was reading in the popular coffeehouse at the corner of Lincoln Place at around 7 pm when someone stealthily grabbed her bag, which contained a cellphone, fancy sunglasses and a leather wallet.
Air apparent
A fleet thief stole a dozen pairs of Air Jordans out of the back of a UPS truck while its driver was making a delivery on Fifth Avenue on June 2.
The brown-shorts-clad victim told cops that he was between 13th and 14th streets at around 12:20 pm when the fast-moving sneaker thief made his move, grabbing the popular basketball shoes, valued at $1,020.
Ice burgs
At least three apartments were busted into by thieves. Here are the annoying details:
• A thief stole $1,500 from a 12th Street apartment over the Memorial Day weekend. When the victim came home on May 31, she noticed that the cash was missing from the unit, which is between Eighth Avenue and Prospect Park West.
• Fancy electronic equipment and cash was swiped out of a St. Marks Place apartment on June 1. The victim told cops that she was not in the unit, which is between Fourth and Fifth avenues, between 10 am and 2 pm, when she returned to find the digital camera, video camera, laptop and $200 gone.
• A heartless thief stole everything from a poor immigrant’s 10th Street apartment on May 21. The victim told cops that while he was briefly held by immigration authorities between 8 am and noon, a thief broke into his apartment, which is between Seventh and Eighth avenues, and took his passport, jewelry, computer, TV, bike, CDs, vital documents and even his bloody toaster.
Old gold
Two very old cars were swiped off Park Slope streets last week, a tribute to the enduring allure of foreign wheels. Here’s a roundup:
• A thief stole a 13-year-old Nisson from Second Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues. The owner told cops that she parked the car on May 29 at 10 am, but it was gone the next day at 3 pm.
• A 12-year-old VW microbus was just too alluring for another thief, who swiped it from Garfield Place between Fifth and Sixth avenues. The owner of the beloved Woodstock Generation wheels told cops that she parked it on May 20, but it was gone by June 2.
Break-ins
At least two cars were broken into, too:
• A thief stole a computer, a radar detector and a navigation system from a 2000 BMW that had been parked on Carroll Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues on May 29. The owner said he was away from the vehicle between 12:30 and 10 pm.
• A thief will be medicating himself with Margaritas, thanks to the cache of stuff he took from a car that had been parked on Eighth Avenue near First Street. The car’s owner said that when she returned to her car on May 31 at 6 pm, she discovered that her medical books and a blender had been removed.
