The A and C trains will be taking nights off next week.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will be performing repairs on the A and C line between Jay Street-MetroTech and Broadway Junction, leaving night owls and second-shift workers to the fickle whims of the shuttle-bus gods.
Trains will stop running between the two stations at 10 pm each night and start back up at 5 am from May 5 to May 9. A local bus will run along Fulton Street and an express bus will ply Atlantic Avenue.
Closing a portion of the line overnight on weekdays allows the transit authority to fix things quickly, transit reps say. A similar program on the A and C line in February allowed track workers to replace 348 light bulbs, repair 48 leaks, and clean 5,360 feet of track, among a number of other maintenance tasks, according to the quasi-governmental agency.
The G train, commonly referred to as the Brooklyn Local, will get the overnight closure treatment the following week, from May 12 to May 16, with service being suspended from the Bedford–Nostrand station to Church Avenue, also between the hours of 10 pm and 5 am.
