Three-peat
A burglar looted three apartments in a Fourth Place building and tried to break into a fourth on March 9.
The intruder struck around 11:25 am, knocking on two doors in the building between Clinton and Court streets and asking, “Is Joe there?”
Neither resident let the man in, but moments later, there was several loud bangs coming from another floor, and one neighbor saw a man with a duffel bag running on the stairs.
In one of the thefts, the thief stole an iPod and a DVD box set of the popular hit comedy, “The Office,” the Steve Carrell-loving 29-year-old victim told police.
The 37-year-old woman who lived next door said the crook took her black pearl necklace, pearl earrings, a watch, her laptop and a digital camera.
The last apartment he raided was on the fourth floor. The two women, 26 and 35, reported losing two laptops.
Roughed up
Police arrested a 17-year-old student for a scuffle with a school safety agent that sent the security guard to the hospital from a high school on Baltic Street on March 5.
The safety agent, a 46-year-old woman, said she tried to prevent the delinquent from leaving the school between Smith and Hoyt streets at 10 am. A shoving match ensued, and the victim’s wrist was hurt. She was taken to Lutheran Medical Center for treatment.
Missing digit
A prowler broke into a Court Street apartment on March 9 and stole a digital camera.
The 32-year-old resident said he was not in his apartment, near the corner of Luquer Street, from 8:35 am to 7:10 pm. The burglar appeared to break in through the front door.
Unseated
A thief stole the back seats from a Chevy Tahoe on Otsego Street overnight on March 4.
The car was parked between Lorraine and Creamer streets from 7:30 pm until 3:30 pm the next day when the driver returned to find his window smashed and his back seats taken.
