The Cyclones blew the game — and a chance to add another half-game to their lead over the second-place Yankees — by giving up four runs in the ninth after dominating all night long.

The Clones scored twice in the first on a bases-loaded walk and a subsequent error.

Then, after Vermont scored three on a bases-loaded triple against starter Darin Gorski, the Cyclones stormed back with four in the sixth to take a commanding 6-3 lead.

The big blows came on Robbie Shields’s RBI single, Jordany Valdespin’s two RBI single, and a Richard Lucas SAC fly.

But in the ninth, against reliever Michael Powers, the Lake Monsters roared. After Powers recorded the first out, he yielded a triple, a walk, two singles, an RBI groundout and another single for one of the ugliest line scores this year: one inning pitched, four hits, four earned runs, one blown save, one loss.

The Cyclones remain four-and-a-half games ahead of the Yankees with just 13 to play. Only the Mets could blow a lead like this.
