A taste of the Caribbean in Brooklyn

Delegations from Guyana, Suriname and Haiti shared the spotlight with a pulsating Trinidadian steel drum band and an information table manned by Air Jamaica during the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Conference at Borough Hall.

The inaugural showcase marked Caribbean-Heritage Month festivities and celebrated national pride at the day-long expo, featuring, among other crowd-pleasers, a cultural market place, a mini-concert and a restaurant tasting and cocktail reception.

Borough President Marty Markowitz commenced the showcase with a breakfast for members of the New York Caribbean Consular Corp., CARICOM heads of government and invited guests.

The conference focused upon the growth and development of the Caribbean community from a regional perspective.
