According to the Brazilian artists Loro Verz, Apolo Torres, and Mundano, Brooklyn is much sleepier than the frenetic pace of Sao Paolo. If their art is any indication, the streets bustle with constant activity, unless they are flooded, which also happens frequently.
Come explore for yourself, as Factory Fresh’s (1053 Flushing Avenue) wildly colorful and exotic exhibition, “Lichen,” featuring the artists will be on display at the gallery until July 26.
Torres’ vividly surrealistic oil paintings of city buses trapped in lowlands floods and eroding favelas remain a highlight, though Mundano’s cart is a striking centerpiece and don’t forget to spin Loro Verz’s maze−like illustrative works which provide a 2−D representation of the rhythm of the Sao Paolo streets.
