The husband of a Brooklyn lawmaker who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2000 makes sure his wife didn’t die in vain by organizing a community health fair each year to help save others from a similar fate.
Sheepshead Bay morphed into a medical database, offering health−smart visitors the lowdown on how to maintain a lifestyle of well−being during the Sixth Annual Lena Cymbrowitz Community Health Fair along the waterfront.
Assemblymember Steven Cymbrowitz, who oversees his late wife’s 45th Assembly District, was on hand to supervise the fair, which provided visitors with complimentary screenings and information about available healthcare services from industry workers and representatives.
There was also some fun stuff – children were able to board a functioning ambulance, plus enjoyed giveaways, a magic show and the attention of strolling performers.
