The Aviators fell to the Cape Cod Bluefins during an embarrassing 8-2 loss on Tuesday — even after the fighting Fish handed Brooklyn fifteen power play opportunities to score.
Brooklyn was riding high when they came to the Hyannis Youth and Community Center in Massachusetts with two wins under their belt, but ended up skating away with their hockey sticks between their legs after the Bluefins served them up raw.
Cape Cod was the first to score, but Aviator center Andrew Owsiak, who scored a hat trick last weekend, evened everything up halfway through the first set.
Yet this was the only time the two teams were on even ice: the Fish tallied four more goals in the first and the second sets, even as six rowdy Bluefins were boxed for fighting, tripping and unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Aviators spent most of the middle period making power play runs — trying to capitalize on the Fish’s school being cut in half — but scored just one goal, allowing the Bluefins to keep a comfortable 5-2 lead before the second intermission began.
The Fish netted three more times in the third, killing all hope of an Aviators comeback.
Tuesday marked the fifth time the Aviators battled Cape Cod — and their third loss to the Fish.
