The Aviators failed to net a win against the hated Danbury Whalers on Saturday, losing 3-2 to Connecticut during a fierce face-off at Floyd Bennett Field’s Aviator Sports and Events Center — the team’s fourth loss at the Hanger.

The Whalers scored first on Saturday, but right winger Anthony Iaquinto evened everything up 19 seconds into the second set when he wristed a puck under Whaler goalie Nick Niedert. Less than two minutes later, center Andrew Owsiak secured a 2-1 lead for Brooklyn, slapping a blocked shot into Danbury’s net.

But that’s where everything fell apart. The Aviators didn’t score again for the rest of the night. Instead, center Jesse Felton and defense man Colin Ronayne were both boxed in the second for fighting. Felton was given seven minutes for instigating the fisticuffs.

Defense man KC Timmons was accused of roughing in the third set, and was forced to stew in the penalty box as Whaler Stephen Mallaro netted the winning goal for Danbury during a power play.

Three weeks into the new season, the Aviators have three wins, two losses and three losses in overtime — but none of the wins have taken place at home.

The Brooklyn Aviators will be back home to play the Cape Cod Bluefins at Aviator Sports [3159 Flatbush Ave. in Floyd Bennett Field in Marine Park, (718) 758-7580] on Nov. 18 at 7:35 pm. Tickets $12 ($10 for seniors and children under 14). For information visit www.brooklynaviators.com.
