The Brooklyn Aviators shot down the hated New Jersey Outlaws in grand fashion on Saturday as the A’s busted up the thugs from dirty Jersey 9–3 with back-to-back hat tricks — making this season’s final home game at the Hangar one for the record books.

The first-place Outlaws tried to set the tone for the game by scoring 17 seconds in the first period, but the early goal did nothing to deter the Brooklyn’s boys of winter as they took a 4–2 lead before the first buzzer sounded, with right wingers Nick Petriello and Chris Campanele laying the foundations for hat tricks that would electrify Aviators’ fans later in the night.

Brooklyn’s boys of winter kept that winning momentum going throughout the night, keeping three points ahead of ornery Outlaws at all times as they skated into the third period, where Petriello and Campanele completed their hat tricks to the roar of the crowd.

The Aviators close out the season later today with a final bout against the Outlaws at the Capital One Ice Vault Arena, but will be back at the Aviator Sports and Events Center [3159 Flatbush Ave. in Floyd Bennett Field in Marine Park, (718) 758-7580] next week for the first round of the 2012 playoffs.
