Budding dancers swept the floor with style during a ballroom dancing competition at Public School 169.
Fifth graders gained points for showmanship and finesse as they executed fancy footwork and transformed the auditorium of their school, 4305 7th Avenue, into a local Savoy dance hall for the contest held in conjunction American Ballroom Theater’s Dancing Classrooms project.
Each year, Dancing Classrooms sends trained teaching artists into public schools to bring students the fundamentals of tango, swing, foxtrot and meringue in addition to discipline, self-esteem and poise.
