Mark Morris Dance Group returns to BAM in a program featuring the world premiere of “Socrates,” the NY premiere of “Looky,” and an acclaimed repertory work, “Behemoth.”
Socrates, set to music by Erik Satie, features tenor Jean-Paul Fouchécourt and pianist Colin Fowler. The NY premiere, “Looky” (2007), is set to music by Kyle Gann, composed and performed on Yamaha Disklavier, with costumes by Elizabeth Kurtzman, Katherine McDowell, Isaac Mizrahi, Martin Pakledinaz, Susan Ruddie, and Christine Van Loon.
Also on the program is “Behemoth” (1990), Morris’ only work performed in silence, which received its world premiere in Brussels while the company was in residency at Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie. This will be the Mark Morris Dance Group’s 22nd engagement at BAM.
