Bandannas and bullets
Two thugs — their faces covered with red bandanas — pulled a gun on a 16-year-old on Avenue S on March 26.
One of the thieves aimed the gun at the victim during the 4:30 pm confrontation, which happened near McDonald Avenue, while his accomplice removed the iPod Nano from his pocket.
Fire escape creeper
A thief used a fire escape to break into an E. Seventh Street home on March 24 — and took a wallet containing $1,000.
The tenant told police that she left her home, which is between Kings Highway and Quentin Road, at 5 pm to spend the night with friends. When she returned at 10 am the next day, she learned that a thief pushed in a gate blocking her open kitchen window and made off with her property.
Knuckle head
A 16-year-old girl was arrested at James Madison High School on March 25 after she brought a pair of brass knuckles to class.
But the teen never made it to her room. Security personnel at the Bedford Avenue school took her into custody after they spotted the knuckles in her jacket pocket at 9:08 am with the help of an X-ray machine.
Busted for assault
A 15-year-old boy was arrested on March 25 after he attacked a 17-year-old handicapped student inside James Madison High School.
Around 11:30 am the boy was chastising the handicapped student for being allowed to take the school elevator — and then punched him in the nose.
Bank bruiser
A thug took his agressions out on a Bank of America on Kings Highway on March 24, splintering the building’s window.
Workers at the bank, which is located between E. 15th and E. 16th streets, said that the vandalism took place sometime after 6:30 pm, when the bank closed for the night.
Left on blocks
A thief swiped the tires off a 2011 Nissan Maxima parked on E. Eighth Street on March 25.
The car’s owner parked the vehicle near Avenue P at 11:45 pm. When he returned the next morning, the car was sitting on blocks.
Car smash
A thief broke into a 2010 Nissan Maxima parked on E. 24th Street on March 25, taking a laptop computer, iPod and navigation system.
The victim parked the car between Quentin Road and Avenue R at 5:30 pm. When he returned the next morning, he learned that someone had smashed the driver’s side window. The electronics were taken from the front seat, the victim told police.
Gunning for cash
Two armed goons lifted $4,000 from two victims on March 18 during a high-stakes robbery on E. Fifth Street.
The victims, both 20, were nearing Avenue U at 11:16 pm when the thieves approached and flashed their firearm. They then rifled through their victim’s pockets, taking the money, some credit cards and a set of keys.
Payless pinch
A gunman held up an Avenue U Payless shoe store on March 13 during a daring evening raid.
Workers at the store, which is between E. 16th and E. 17th streets, told police that the thief surprised a female employee as she brought out the trash at 5 pm.
The thief forced the employee inside, then ordered a manager to open the safe, which he looted.
