Editor’s note: Bay Ridge’s 68th police precinct is one of three providing this paper with information from crime reports during what we are calling the blotter blackout. Under the new system, a community affairs officer reads summaries of police reports aloud rather than providing a folder containing selected complaint forms. The officer takes no questions and omits usually provided details, such as the brands and estimated values of stolen items, the contents of pilfered wallets and bags, and, sometimes, the gender identities of victims.

Wrong song
A crook broke into a car parked on 87th Street and stole thousands in musical equipment sometime between Dec. 10 and Dec. 12, cops said.
The victim told police that she left the vehicle near Fourth Avenue at 5 pm on Tuesday and returned at 7:30 pm on Thursday to find her back windshield shattered. An Alto CD player, a mixer, and other studio electronics were gone from inside, according to a police report.
Rob the builder
A lowlife lifted hundreds of dollars in power tools from a 68th Street construction site overnight on Dec. 9, police stated.
The contractor reported closing up the job-site between Eighth and Ninth avenues at 5:30 pm. When workers came back at 8:30 the next morning, they found their equipment missing, according to cops.
Tooled again
A villain invaded a 94th Street basement overnight on Dec. 8 and stole several hand tools, authorities allege.
The victims said they shut the cellar of their home between Marine Avenue and Shore Road at 11 pm and, at 7 am the following day, found the entrance broken open and their hardware gone.
Came up dry
A gunman held up a Seventh Avenue dry cleaner for $60 on Dec. 12, police said.
The clerk told cops that the perp barged into his business between 84th and 85th streets at 5:20 pm brandishing a silver handgun.
“Give me your money,” the bandit supposedly demanded.
The cashier handed over $20, but the fiend insisted on more dough, cops stated. The crook reached into the register and removed an additional $40 before scramming, according to police.
