Talk about a major mitzvah! Northfield Bank celebrated the opening of its newest branch on 13th Avenue, right here in our little burg, with a gala event — then sweetened the deal with a hefty cash donation to a local charity.

What a sport! Most banks just give out toasters!

The lucky recipients of Northfield’s generosity were the Yadeinu School and Yeshiva and Mesivta Wiznitz of USA. Northfield Bank was too humble to say how much was donated to the school, but sources told Standing O that Northfield Bank gave $14,000 to three charities: the Yadeinu School and two schools near its two new branches in New Jersey.

Grand opening festivities included entertainment, refreshments, giveaways, and promotional product offerings.

But Standing O is dying to know one thing: Are there any toasters left?”
